Stance Goes NYC: San Clemente Sock Maker Opens First Store
Stance will open its first brick-and-mortar shop in NYC’s SoHo District
Orange County’s sock empire continues to grow.
Stance, the San Clemente-based sock brand, opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in New York City’s SoHo District. According to the Orange County Business Journal, the company will open a 2,000-square-foot storefront in an old knit glove factory that’s more than 100 years old.
Founded in 2009, Stance is known for its unique, high-quality socks. Earlier this year, the sock maker became the official sock of the NBA and launched a collaboration with pop superstar Rihanna.
Forbes said the company has raised over $86 million in investments from venture capital firms and celebrity investors, including actor Will Smith, rapper Nas and Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade. The company has also launched a new product category, men’s underwear.
If Stance’s first store is successful, the company will roll out more brick-and-mortar shops in cultural centers like London, Paris, Toyko, Miami and San Francisco.
