What you get: A pita sandwich (with your choice of beef or chicken doner kebab), salad or fries and a fountain drink.

How much? $7.99

Cheapo notes: Sure, $7.99 is a bit on the high end…but you get what you pay for at DonerG. The doner kebabs are flavorful and juicy. This meal will leave you full!

Doner G has two locations in Orange County. 3800 Barranca Pkwy. in Irvine, 2139 E. Ball Road in Anaheim. donerg.com

Tacos El Chavito

o-14Source: Yelp

What you get: Tacos, with your choice of the following proteins: carne asada, chicken, carnitas, al pastor, cabeza, buche, lengua, chorizo, cesos or chicharron.

How much? 60 cents per taco. And if you order more than 30, the price drops down to 50 cents per taco.

Cheapo notes: This is probably the best taco deal you’ll get in OC. Here, you can get 30 tacos for $15.  Sure, it’s a taco truck on a random street in Huntington Beach. But the tacos are definitely better than Taqueria De Anda and Tacos Mexico. If you still don’t think that’s a sweet deal, they also give you free pineapple juice with every order. YAAAS!

Tacos El Chavito can be found on Morgan Lane and Slater Ave. in Huntington Beach. (714) 597-3925

Sam Woo BBQ Express

o-15Source: Yelp

What you get: Your choice of three entrees from the steam table, chow mein or fried rice and egg drop soup.

How much? $6.95

Cheapo notes: For the most part, any takeout Chinese food spot can get you out the door for under $10. But if you’re looking for something a little more OG, Sam Woo is the spot. Unlike most chinese food steam tables, you can pick from dishes like salt and pepper shrimp, spicy salt pork chop and hot braised string beans. It’s greasy. It’s tasty. It’s real.

Sam Woo BBQ Express is at 15333 Culver Drive in Irvine. samwooirvine.com

Nha Hang $1.99

o-17Source: Yelp

What you get: Com ga chien, which is crispy cornish game hen with tomato rice, fried egg and pickled vegetables.

How much? $5.75

Cheapo notes: Believe it or not, there was a time where this epic meal was only $1.99. Hence the name of the restaurant!

But that is no longer the case. Still, at $5.75, it’s quite the steal. The restaurant is very no-frills. It’s cash only and doesn’t offer free tap water.

Nha Hang $1.99 is at 12035 Garden Grove Blvd. in Garden Grove and 7971 Westminster Blvd. in Westminster. (714) 636-3426

Aloha Hawaiian BBQ

o-18Source: Yelp

What you get: A mini meal, which includes your choice of BBQ chicken, BBQ beef, chicken katsu, hamburger steak or island curry chicken with a scoop of rice, a scoop of macaroni salad and vegetable.

How much? $5.99

Cheapo notes: This is called a mini meal, but should really be called a mega meal. The portion sizes at Aloha are insane.

Aloha Hawaiian BBQ has three locations in Orange County. alohabbq1888.com

Sushi Box

Source: Yelp

What you get: Teriyaki chicken, tempura shrimp and vegetables or a croquette, 4 pcs. of a California Roll or Vegetable Roll, green salad or steamed vegetables, rice and miso soup.

How much? $6.48

Cheapo notes: Although this deal is Sushi Box’s lunch special, it’s served all day. If you eat it for lunch, you’re guaranteed to return back to work with a food coma.

Sushi Box is at 3001 Bristol St. Ste D in Costa Mesa. (714) 641-7004
